in Romance languages the pronoun is sometimes inserted for emphasis as in ! yo soy ! I, I am. emphasizing that the speaker is referring to him/herself alone and no one else. this is also seen in the Japanese phrase Watashi wa. the wa emphasizing the the speaker is once again referring to him/herself alone and no one else.
