Open for ideas on what to cook for a family lunch get together?

im trying to host my first family get together. my family stopped having get togethers after my moms divorce. she kinda gave up on cooking since we moved out and were getting older ya know. i plan on having about 10 people over. im just a beginner as far as cooking. im looking for main dish idea and little things i can set out to munch on. i know how to cook simple things like lasagnas and things, but im always open for ideas. cerole dishes? anythings..... nothing way too expensive though. there not worthy of seafood and steaks quite yet, haha..
